Biography: Born in Barka, Hungary in 1873 and died in Budapest in 1942. He studied at the School of Sample Drawing (Mintarajziskola) in Budapest with Masters Bertalan Szekely and Ede Ballo, and later with Simon Hollosy in Munich, and in Paris. He gained early success with portraits of his contemporaries in the theatre. Then spent ten years in Kassa, Hungary painting rural themes that depicted the life of the Kuruc clan. He finally settled in Budapest, where he painted rustic themes and genre scenes of village life, patrons at the inn, of horse and rider, cavalrymen (Hussars) on patrol, horse and stable, Kuroc on patrol, horseman resting, and fox hunting.
