Biography: Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1928 and died there in 1984. He was a graphical artist and sculptor who studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts with Masters Robert Bereny, Janos Kmetty and Karoly Doffan between 1947-1952. Between 1960-63 he was the recipient of the prestigious Derkovits Scholarship and was one of the founders of the Young Artists Studio. He exhibited abroad in Paris, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Sofia and Berlin. He was the recipient of the Munkacsy Prize in 1966, the SZOT Prize in 1970 and Hungarian National Artist of Merit Award in 1972. He was humanist-minded with a realistic approach. His lean figures and dramatic compositions reflected the alertness of a politician's conscience. Thematically rich, he liked to deal with youth, the labor movement, the working life and problems of the suburbs, landscapes and symbolic scenes. Several of his works are in the permanent collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.
