Biography: Born in Szatmarnemeti, Hungary in 1898 and died in Budapest in 1969. He was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. Between 1916-1922 he studied under Master Imre Revesz at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts then became a member of the Kecskemet Artists Colony until 1930. He began exhibiting in 1924, studying further and exhibiting in the U.S. between 1925-1930, then participating in organized exhibitions in Paris and Zurich. He was an active storybook illustrator, including major successes with Sandor Solymossy’s “Hungarian Legends and Tales,” and Stephen Gyorffy’s “The Savage Herdsmen.” The Deri Museum in Debrecen, Hungary held a major exhibition of his work in 1936.
