Biography:
| Born in Battonya, Hungary in 1894, died in Budapest in 1981. Painter and graphic artist particularly interested in biblical themes and nude compositions. He began his studies at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in 1915 and later traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to study and participate in his first exhibition. Between 1921-1922 he lived in Paris. In 1928 he was granted a full scholarship by the Collegium Hungaricum to Rome. In 1930 he started to illustrate literary writings in a cubist style and developed a technique in wood-carving. Between 1933-1970 he received many orders from churches throughout Europe for biblically-themed frescoes. Recipient of many awards, most notably the Grand Prix Gold Medal in the 1937 Paris World’s Fair Universelle Art Exposition.
