Biography: Born in Nagyszentmiklos, Hungary in 1884 and died in Budapest in 1972. He studied at the Mintarajz School (Sample Drawing Academy) beginning in 1901 with Masters Ede Ballo, Laszlo Hegedus and Tivadar Zemplenyi. He continued his studies in Munich (1905), Berlin (1909-1910), Paris (1911), Brussels and London. He was a painter, portraitist, graphic artist and caricaturist. He was part of the foundation of Szinyei Tarsasag (the Szinyei Group) and the artist’s colony at Kecskemet. From 1929 on he was a teacher of the Free Painting School in Szentendre. He painted mythological scenes, landscapes, still lifes and portraits in an open and semi-impressionistic style. He won a Gold Medal in 1932 at the Barcelona International Arts and Industry Exhibition, and the Hungarian Munkacsy Prize, and was a member of the pretigious Szinyei Merse Pal Tarsasag (Szinyei Mers Pal Group). His work was often exhibited, particularly at the Ernst Museum and his paintings are part of the Hungarian National Museum’s permanent collection.
